Short on time? This video shares a walkthrough of this weekly edition of the Muse News!
Muse News is for creators, bloggers, and creative online business owners who want to grow their email list while building their personal brands online.
In case you're new here (or if you haven't checked an email from me in a while), hi! I'm Brittany Verlenich.โ
The Profitable Part-Time Blogger opens later this month!โ This isn't my course, it's actually my friend Nina's course. It'll be open to register April 21st-25th - so if starting, growing, or monetizing a blog is in your sites for this year, put it in your budget and on your calendar! โ
Want more reach this week without making anything new?
Letโs get scrappy.
Instead of creating a new Reel, reformat one youโve already made!
You donโt need a new idea - just a new angle.
โ Change the first hook text to ask a question instead of making a statement โ Re-record the voiceover with a new script or tone โ Add new captions with bold keywords (especially if you're trying to get found via search!) โ Swap out the cover image and re-upload it to Instagram or try it as a YouTube Short
Quick win: A small tweak = a fresh post. Most people never even saw your first version anyway!
This weekโs podcast episode might be my favorite one yet.
Because Iโm not just giving you content tips.
Iโm actually inviting you to reimagine your entire relationship with content.
Weโve been told that we have to be โonโ all the time.
That we need to constantly post, create, update, and stay โrelevant.โ
But thatโs not sustainable.
(and honestly it never has been)
More importantly, itโs not even true anymore.
The world has changed.
In this episode, you'll learn how to build an evergreen content forest - so you can move away from the daily gardening mentality.
Most sellers don't need to be creating daily!
A garden is beautiful, yes.
But itโs high maintenance.
You water it daily.
You prune.
You weed.
And then? That carrot you spent weeks growingโฆ is gone in one bite.
But a forest?
A forest is built to last.
It regenerates.
It protects itself.
It grows even when youโre not watching.
Thatโs the shift I want for all of us.โ
And thatโs exactly what Iโm doing inside my business right now - across multiple brands. โ I'm creating evergreen YouTube videos that bring in passive sales โ I'm repurposing content from one podcast episode into 10+ social media posts โ Iโm building systems that let my content work for me, instead of me always working for it
And next week, Iโll be announcing the new program that helps you do the same.
Weโll be building your own content forest - one built evergreen post at a time.
Until then, I hope this episode gives you permission to slow down without disappearing.
Because the internet doesnโt reward who posts the most.
It rewards the ones who post the most useful things, in the most strategic way.
Here are my quick takes and observations happening now in in social media marketing.
Some are things that I'm seeing happen right now, some are upcoming trends or changes I see coming:
Instagram is favoring content that builds connectionโnot just views. โ We're seeing a shift away from "aesthetic-first" content toward content that feels like something. โ People want to read something real. โ Teacher-to-teacher stories, helpful how-to's, bold takes, vlogs - those are whatโs showing up more in feeds and in Explore. โ Carousel posts with actual depth are outperforming static graphics or cutesy videos with trending sounds. โ
What to try:โ โ Pick one of your best-selling products and break down the problem it solves โ Slide 1: Problem โ Slide 2: Quick story, example, or testimonial โ Slide 3: CTA to your link in bio โ โ
The push towards long-from content is VERY real.โ And social media is taking the leads. โ While short-form videos have dominated in recent years, there's a notable resurgence of long-form content. โ Marketers are increasingly investing in extended video formats, including live streams and detailed tutorials, to foster deeper engagement and provide comprehensive information to audiences. โ This trend reflects a desire for more substantive content that goes beyond quick snippets. โ Anytime there's a swing in one direction, there's an equal and opposite swing the other way!! โ โWhat to do now:โ โ Consider: do you have capacity for a live weekly show? โ Adjust: could you try Reels 3 minutes or longer? to get you in front of more new people? โ Repurpose: do you have a YouTube channel or video podcast you could get clips from? โ Hire me: and I can do this stuff for you :)โ โ
The age of influencing as we know it is over (thank God, honestly).โ The focus is shifting from high-profile influencers to micro-influencers who boast smaller but highly engaged audiences. โ Collaborations with these influencers often yield higher trust and authenticity, leading to more effective marketing outcomes. โ Brands are recognizing the value of genuine connections over sheer follower numbers. โ โWhat to do now:โ โ Focus less on reach, and more on engagement โ Instead of just going wide with your content topics, go deep into one specific pillar โ Think - how can you reward the followers or audience members you already have?
โ ๐ Trending Topics
Don't know what to post? I've got you!!
Every week, I'll include some ideas that are trending right now.
If these work for your brand or niche, integrate them into your content strategy so you can ride that wave of virality.
Here are some trending topics and subjects you can integrate into your approach for more timely content:
โ
๐ End-of-Year Awards & Classroom Celebrationsโ โ Teachers are prepping for parties, countdowns, and classroom wrap-up traditions โ Theyโre looking for low-prep but meaningful ways to celebrate student growth and progress โ This is a great time to promote: โ Editable student awards and certificates โ Memory books, class superlatives, and year-end writing prompts โ Party planning kits, classroom games, or printable decor packs
โ
๐ Summer Reading & Learning at Homeโ โ Parents are already looking for simple ways to keep kids learning during break โ There's growing demand for screen-free resources that are open-and-go โ This is a great time to promote: โ Summer reading challenges, book trackers, and bingo boards โ Comprehension packets with fun themes (mystery, animals, space, etc.) โ Daily journal prompts or morning routine printables
โ
โ๏ธ Hiring Season & New Teacher Prepโ โ Schools are staffing up for next year, and many teachers are changing roles or grades โ New teachers are actively buying ahead, especially low-cost classroom essentials โ This is a great time to promote: โ Printable classroom decor sets and organization systems โ Curriculum guides, scope and sequence templates, or unit overviews โ Editable meet-the-teacher forms and back-to-school checklists
โ
๐ป Digital Portfolios & Reflective Projectsโ โ Tech-forward teachers are looking for ways to wrap up the year with thoughtful digital reflection โ Admins are requesting end-of-year artifacts from students (especially in 1:1 districts) โ This is a great time to promote: โ Google Slides-based memory books or portfolios โ Editable templates for student-led conferences or presentations โ End-of-year writing prompts focused on self-reflection and goal setting
โ
๐ง SEL & Mental Health Supportโ โ Emotions are running high as the year winds down - among students and teachers โ There's demand for tools that help kids manage change, anxiety, and transition โ This is a great time to promote: โ Calming corner visuals and coping strategy charts โ SEL check-in journals or coloring pages โ Resources for handling big feelings, goodbyes, and moving to a new grade โ
๐ฐ Social Scoop
Instagram
Blend Reels, Downvotes, and Lockable Postsโ Instagram is testing "Blend," a feature creating shared Reels feeds between friends, and "lockable posts," accessible only with a secret code. These features aim to deepen user engagement through personalized and exclusive content. โ They've also been adding the ability to "downvote" certain comments like we see on Reddit. โ Certain accounts also now have the ability to see the views of their non-Reel posts, right there on the grid.
Threads
Trending Tabs = Free Trafficโ I put this in last week but I'm reiterating it - go get on Threads!! There's still so much opportunity to blow up there, and people are coming over to Instagram accounts from posts they see on Threads. You can also share links AND you don't even need to show your face. 10/10. โ โCome follow me on Threads, too!โ โ
Facebook
The Friends Tab is Backโ Facebook has reintroduced a "Friends" tab, allowing users to view posts exclusively from friends, without suggested content or ads. This move seeks to restore a more personal and intimate user experience.
โ LinkedIn
LinkedIn Is Kind Of Cool Now?? โLinkedIn is welcoming creators and creators are going for it!! It's been interesting to see what people are doing over there. It's definitely worth considering if you offer professional development, consulting, coaching, or higher ticket courses. Especially if you're working directly with school admins and districts.โ โโ โ
TikTok
TikTok Introduces 'Footnotes' for Community Contextโ TikTok has begun U.S. testing of "Footnotes," a feature allowing users to add context to videos, similar to X's "Community Notes."Eligible users can apply to contribute, aiming to enhance content reliability through community-sourced information. โ
Google
Google is just stressing me out right now so I'm refusing to look lol โDo make sure you have the SiteKit plugin installed on your website, though! โ
YouTube
Creator Events: YouTube is HEAVILY investing in creators!! If you're putting effort into YouTube, see if they have any Creator events happening near you. And if they do, go!! You can hear about trends, techniques, and tactics right from the source. โ
Bluesky
Bluesky Has Videos Nowโ Bluesky has introduced a dedicated video feed, aligning with the platform's efforts to enhance multimedia content and user engagement.
โ
๐ New at Verity Media
This is still happening!!
I'm looking to help six online business owners grow their email lists and make sales directly from social media.
I'd LOVE to help you get results while I build out my portfolio for sellers!
I'd especially love to hear from you if you:
Focus on selling printables or books
Sell digital products on TeachersPayTeachers, Etsy, or your own website
Create and sell courses
Are looking to launch a new product line
This would be full-on account management with content creation, engagement, ManyChat funnel setup and etc.
You'll get a promotional offer that's less than what I'm advertising publicly!
After working together for 3 months, you'll be able to stay on at that rate, or move on with more leads, and loads of content that you can repurpose.
I'll also feature your growth on the Social Media Magic podcast, and I'll even interview you if you're up for it!!
The promotional rate is $500 per month for everything shown here.
Here's a public-facing post that shows my current, publicly advertised rates:
