Hi, Reader!!

Brittany here from Verity Media.

Many of you who know me, know that I'm a creative with a gazillion side hustles.

But by far, my most consistently profitable income stream is freelancing.

This is a snapshot of my income from March (which are earnings from February work).

In April, my earnings will be about $1,000 more since I took on two more clients in March.

I left out Fiverr income from this, but that's another $300 or so.

Now, I don't always love to share numbers like these - because I can see how it can come off as crass.

(though, on the other hand, no matter what you say or do somebody will alwaaaays have a problem with it so there's already a lesson there)

So I've limited to sharing them in newsletters and to the subscribers of The Freelancer Fix (my Substack newsletter about freelancing).

The reason I've started to share more numbers is that you need to know what's possible.

I started freelancing on a desperate whim.

I'd just become a travel agent and I was learning the trade there.

I'd booked for a few clients, filled out some group trips, and was gaining confidence with that - but I had a few problems:

  • You don't get paid instantly as a travel agent.
And while I loved it (still love it!), I needed something where I was paid more instantly - because I had to pay my bills.
  • When you're a beginner travel agent, you're not earning the same amount consistently.
My bills weren't too high when I was living and teaching on a reservation - but if we ever wanted to leave that job, I knew we'd need to pay 3-10x more for housing than we were paying there. So making more money became an immediate need as I was extremely stressed a my teaching job.
  • As I just mentioned, I desperately wanted to quit my job ASAP.
I won't go into that now, though I will share about that on the panel today (more on that in a minute). But I had to make money QUICKLY. So freelancing presented itself at just the right time.

This weekend, I'm speaking at the 2026 Spring Fling Conference (affiliate link).

And while my session is about marketing and how every platform works together, I've realized that freelancing is a HUGE part of my story - and that I want to talk about it more.

Because for you, a life-changing amount of money could be just an extra $500 a month.

Or maybe you need to replace your teacher income because you need to quit.

I know for me, I realized that teaching is NOT a family-friendly career... and that if I ever wanted/want to have kids, then I need more flexibility.

I also love to travel and just couldn't travel enough on a teacher schedule/salary.

What started as an experiment out of desperation took over my life, and I was able to replace my teaching salary within 3 months of my first freelancing gig.

I know so many of you - whether you already have a TPT store you’re looking to grow or you’re a teacher looking for a way to supplement your income - are looking for a sustainable way to make an extra $2,000 to $4,000 a month.

For me, that journey started very simply.

It looked like replying to email newsletters when I saw a brand I loved was hiring.

Then, that turned int o me applying for gigs posted in Facebook groups. It was scrappy, but it worked.

Since then, my method has evolved quite a bit, and I’m sharing exactly how I navigate the freelance world today during a special Service Provider Panel this afternoon for the Spring Fling Conference attendees (but heads up, you need to have the paid Power Pass to attend the panels, and to get access to the panel replays).

I'd love to see you at the panel if you can make it!!

It's at 9am Pacific/12pm Eastern today.

I know many of my followers and subscribers have church and family activities on Sunday.

So if you can't make it live, grab the Power Pass so you can watch the replay.

Talk soon,
