Hi Reader!!
I hope you're well! :)
Today, I want to speak to the bloggers, content creators, and sellers who are NOT keen on social media.
Maybe you've even been trying to show up lately and it's just, not clicking.
Or maybe you even like the creation part - but responding to comments and having to log in every day is just too much.
I've been encouraging ALL of my 1:1 clients and mastermind members to get on YouTube.
โ
Seriously.
โ
If you're a nerd about the internet, here's why (otherwise skip this section lol):
Search as we know it is completely changing.
In fact, it's already changed.
While I'm not saying to stop blogging, I AM saying that I think we're going to see the old-school "post and pray" method of blogging fall by the wayside pretty soon (in some niches, that's already happened).
Google has leaned in more to A.I. Mode.
ChatGPT search is quickly becoming the default for search across all demographics.
And TikTok search has already been a thing for a while now.
It's getting easier and easier to produce written content - which, on one hand, yay!!
But that means, if it's easier, more people will do it and the written word will become less valuable (ELA & writing people, please don't come for me - I love writing!! just sharing the macro-trend here).
โ
So, what's the opposite of easy, A.I. and fully automated?
Hard.
Time-consuming.
Heartfelt.
Authentic.
Organic.
Social media is definitely a way to win here.
But it's not the only way.
In fact, I've been loving YouTube.
It is waaaaay more forgiving!!
With this travel agent channel, I actually started it a year ago - but I've only been posting videos for like 9 months.
Since then, I've had people:
- Buy $400+ courses RIGHT FROM THE VIDEOS
- Earned "passive income" from affiliate links
- Had surprise 1:1 consultations and coaching bookings
- DM me on IG for that brand asking how to work with me
And before ya'll say that's only possible in B2B, no waaay!
In fact I'm SO confident - that this summer, I'm walking the founding students of my Evergreen course through this process and I'm doing it again SPECIFICALLY for TPT.โ
(btw - if you're in there, look out for an update email from me! live dates happening in June AND July!!)
โ
The biggest takeaway I've had from YouTube, is this:
You DO NOT need to post every week.
โ
In fact, you can absolutely post-and-ghost, algorithms be damned.
And MAN does that feel good!!!
โ
I know committing to something weekly is like super hard.
โSo in my Evergreen course, this is what you're doing:โ
You're committing to 12 videos.
Just 12!!
That's it!
And each of them can be like 5 minutes long.
So if you can give me ONE HOUR of recording time this summer, I can help you get sales off of TpT.
I'm so serious about this.
If you already know you're ready to make at 12 least 12 YouTube videos - let's do it together!!
Look, it's a bajillion degrees outside right now (like 102 today).
It would also be so easy for me to put this off and not do it!
So let's spur each other on and get this ish done.
โ
Buuuut what about for me people who aren't convinced?
I get it.
I've got something for you too!
โI'm actually speaking on this at the What's Hot Now summit - happening tomorrow through June 27th (aff).โ
I knew I had to speak at this when Alisa Kay, the hostess, was only taking topics about what's working right NOW.
One of my hot takes: if you're still doing what you did in 2012 for TpT (or for ANYTHING online), you're gonna get left behind.
I know that sounds harsh.
But I'm willing to say that out loud because we neeeed to innovate.
I'm legit really excited to watch these sessions and learn from my peers about what's working right NOW - because with the speed of everything changing, some strategies only work for like 6 months.
It is what it is.
So go get your ticket!!
โ
I have the Muse News and other bits coming back this week, but I wanted to make sure you knew about these two things asap since they're time-sensitive!
There's a lot going on this week (Teacher Seller Summit as well!! aff), so I'll for sure be back here in your inbox soon.
See yaaaa!
